Two Definitions

This post has nothing to do with poultry. At all.

However, I felt it bore enough significance to be worthy of posting.

Last night I experienced my first ever panic attack. No. It’s not a boast. To those of you who have experienced these, you know what I mean. To those who have not, pray – oh pray you never will.

I believe I now know the true definition of terror.

noun \ˈter-ər\

A state of intense fear

Now, I am truly beyond blessed to have a friend who knows what these are like, so it wasn’t quite as bad as I suppose it would have been if they had not been there to help me through it. This friend told me to read a short Bible passage. It’s “common” enough (if God’s Word can be called common), and quite honestly at times in the past I used to view it as slightly trite in certain situations. But last night it was the best thing ever.

noun \ˈpēs\

a state of tranquility or quiet; freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions
That peace. That blessed, beautiful peace. How I wish it could stay always. Knowing the nature of panic attacks I’ll likely have more in the future. But, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. […] Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” (James 1:5, 12)
