“And they glorified God, saying, ‘Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life’.” – Acts 11:18 So different are we today from the saints of scripture. For when God delivered his people by the hands of Moses, they rejoiced in the destruction of their enemies, and sang praises to the God […]

The dark is about bravely being a canvas for light — about courageously letting your dark be a canvas for sparks of God glory, a backdrop for ambers of mercy in the midst of your fire.

What a blessing it was to wake up this morning with this song running through my head! A beautiful reminder that we can’t do life without God.
Progress is being made! This is a huge step.

THIS is what justice in a courtroom looks like. Boston Scientific will appeal, but it’s a significant change in the landscape of transvaginal mesh claims. Of the $73 Million awarded to plaintiff Martha Salazar, $65 Million is in punitive damages. Legally speaking, that means the 12 jurors of, half men, the other half women UNANIMOUSLY AGREED that Boston Scientific knew what they were doing when they harmed Martha and that they should be PUNISHED. Suffice it to say, I agree.

I suppose I should not be so amazed, for evil’s inception well predates every thing I’ve known. The Preacher and man of wisdom, Solomon, said “what was is, and what is will be again” (Ecc 1:9), therefore I know that there is nothing new under the sun. Nevertheless, it still amazes me that I live in a world where selfishness and sin reigns. As a result of sin we have rape, murder, wars, sex slavery, child molesters, thieves, liars, and all expressions of evil. I myself was born in it, and shaped by my own iniquity. I was molded in evil, and enthralled to partake therein. I was, like everyone else, a child of the devil and heading for wrath. “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor 15:57)…

Last Monday I had the amazing privilege of going to Kingdom Bound to hear (and see) Nick Vujicic speak. Nick’s ministry is Life Without Limbs and his testimony is incredibly inspirational.
Most of you know from previous posts that I live with chronic pain due to nerve damage from polypropylene mesh and surgeries. I’ve lived with it for a little over a year and a half now and it’s not likely to be going away any time soon. No, it’s never easy. Yes, I struggle with it – a lot. Day in and day out I have asked myself the Big Why’s.
Why won’t God heal me?
Honestly, you’d think that I’d have come to terms with all this and “just accepted” that things are the way they are quite a while ago. But humans are curious creatures with an insatiable desire to know. Oh I had ideas for why. Too many, perhaps.
“God is punishing me.”
“God is having me learn something.”
“God is teaching me patience.”
“God wants others to learn from what I’m going through.”
“Maybe there is a factor to the faith-healing crap after all.”
And many more.
Nick’s message at Kingdom Bound helped me understand why.
If you don’t know him, Nick was born without arms or legs. Listen to his testimony:
Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.
What is this?! my heart shouted while listening to Nick. Suddenly, after reading and hearing that story all my life it hit me then. THIS is the reason for it all. THIS is WHY!
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
I didn’t even try to stop the tears.
Are You good only when I prosper,
And true only when I’m filled?
Are You King only when I’m carefree,
And God only when I’m well?
You are good when I’m poor and needy;
You are true when I’m parched and dry;
You still reign in the deepest valley;
You’re still God in the darkest night.
